Crochet basket

Description

I had originally bought the yarn I'd used for this to make felted arm warmers but the pattern I was trying to use was for normal yarn and I had trouble getting the sizing right to allow for shrinkage. When I tried the partially made one on my arm, it got incredibly itchy so I knew I wasn't going to be wearing them much if at all, so I decided to make something else from the yarn. I finished ripping out the stitches I'd done during the IHSW (You can find an explanation here ) as due to an arm injury I cannot hold my embroidery hoop right now.

I was wandering around the crochet side of the internet and found this pattern for a basket: Ombre Basket Pattern which I rather liked the look of. Since the yarn is rather on the thick side I used just 2 threads with my L sized/8mm hook instead of 4 which means that the basket isn't as stiff as it might be but it works well enough.

I made one adjustment to the pattern and that was to do a round of back loop sc while doing the 5th row and front loop sc in the 6th row to make the ridge you can see near the bottom of the basket which I think adds a bit of character to it.

The basket was made in 2 days with frequent breaks to rest my arm.
