Last week when my bf arrived to visit he came bearing gifts - one of which was the latest copy of the Cross stitcher magazine. The freebie of the issue was a wooden butterfly necklace kit in purples, yellows and blues.
As I didn't like the colouring but loved the idea of the necklace I decided to make it into something I liked. I Googled butterflies and let the many patterns inspire me to create the pattern for this butterfly.
I used silk DMC threads for the black and greens and white pearlescant for the white bits. For an extra bit of sparkle I used kreinik blending filament (085) with all the silk threads. This gave all the greens a lovely sparkle and gave the black that iridescent black beetle sheen.
